Külkens, Mike

Mike Külkens received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physics from RWTH Aachen University, specializing in experimental solid-state physics with a focus on nanoelectronics.

He studied high-power laser welding processes with X-ray videography using synchrotron radiation at the PETRA III accelerator ring. His master’s thesis at Jülich Research Center focused on semiconductor epitaxy and quantum optics, specifically on monocrystalline wurtzite GaAs/ZnSe core/shell nanowires for single-photon sources.

He is a PhD student in the Integrated Optics team at UFOX since 2025.
