Garcia, Rafael

Rafael Garcia received his Bachelor in Physics at the university of São Paulo (USP) in 2020. During his Bachelor years in the Photonics Group, he developed a Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) setup and a Double/Multi Pulse Fluorescence experiment for measuring singlet to triplet state intersystem crossing times. At the same university, from 2021 to August 2023, his Master's work consisted of building a general purpose femtosecond pump-probe technique with multiple beamlines for working with two distinct OPAs and a White-light Continuum path. Beyond the setup, spectroscopic studies of several systems were made, including azobenzene derivatives and aggregates in solution. In this period, a six-months research internship took place in the Physikalisch-Chemisches Institut (Uni Heidelberg), in Deschler's group. There, the student worked with coherent spectroscopy and projected an additional NOPA implemented in the pump-probe setup. In October 2023, the student started his Ph.D. in the Ultrafast Optics and X-rays Group at the Center for Free-Electron Laser (CFEL) Science to build an attosecond pump-probe system and other time-resolved experiments with the attosecond synthesizer developed in last years by the group.
