Tobias Kroh was awarded the Otto Stern prize
17 October, 2018
Tobias Kroh of the Ultrafast Optics and X-rays group at the Center for Free-Electron Laser Science at DESY was awarded the Otto Stern prize of Universität Hamburg for the best master thesis in the physics department in the winter semester 2017/2018. This prize was presented by the “Verein der Freunde und Förderer der Physik an der Universität Hamburg e.V.” During a research stay at Massachusetts Institute of Technology Kroh investigated theoretical forecasts for the generation of so-called Higher Harmonics by means of an infrared short-pulse laser system. This challenging experiment could only be achieved thanks to “Tobias’ excellent grasp of physics and experimental skills”, emphasized his group leader at DESY, Prof. Kaertner, who acted as his thesis supervisor.
