Cirmi, Giovanni

Giovanni Cirmi received his M.Sc. in electronic engineering (2005) and his Ph.D. with honors in physics (2009), both from Politecnico di Milano, Italy, in the group of Prof. Giulio Cerullo. He then was a 'Progetto Roberto Rocca' doctoral fellow (2008), a 'Progetto Roberto Rocca' postdoctoral fellow (2009-2010) and a postdoctoral associate (2010-2011) at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Since 2012 he is a research scientist at CFEL/DESY, Hamburg, Germany. His research interests include femtosecond parametric visible and infrared sources and their applications to ultrafast time-resolved nonlinear spectroscopy and coherent control of molecular dynamics. In the last years he has worked on high-energy parametric waveform synthesis of few-optical-cycle pulses, high harmonic generation and high-energy terahertz pulse generation. His research profile is available here.
